The “Maggiolata” is a traditional spring festival with a parade of floats composed of thousands of flowers and bands through the streets of the old town. The event consists of a competition between the four districts of the country in the preparation of the most beautiful wagon. The floats parade in the last two Sundays of May (from which the event takes its name: in italian may is “Maggio”): in the second, the jury announced the winner of the district, which is the coveted gold Grifo. The whole is preceded by the dispossession of the floats, whose flowers are mutually launched between rionali, creating a unique “battle of flowers”. The four participating districts are:
